Welcome to the Chico State Swimming & Diving (Men & Women) and Men’s Varsity Water Polo historical website.
Our goal is to preserve and celebrate the rich history of these programs through photographs, records, stories, results, and other historical materials. New content will continue to be added as this archive grows.
We welcome your help. If you discover an error, have information to share, or would like to contribute photos, documents, or memories, please contact us. Together, we can help preserve this history for future generations.
Our program’s rich history spans from 1960 to 1991, with the first season of competition taking place in the 1960-61 school year and the final season in 1990-91. Over these three decades, hundreds of swimmers, divers, and water polo players contributed to a legacy of dedication, achievement, and camaraderie.
We have gathered details on many of our incredible athletes and will showcase them on this site. However, there are still many teammates we hope to reconnect with, and one of our top priorities is reaching every living member of our aquatic family.
Above all, this website is about sharing our stories, preserving our history, and celebrating the bonds we built in and out of the water.
This website aims to chronicle the full history of our program, ensuring that every teammate is remembered as accurately and completely as possible. We are thrilled that Don Lytle is also committed to preserving the legacies of their programs.
This is truly a labor of love, and we’re eager to move forward as quickly as possible. However, to make this project a success, we need your help. If you have stories, details, or memories to share, please reach out—we’d love to hear from you and ensure that every part of our history is honored.
There were many accomplishments – both team and individual – that should never be forgotten.
This includes national team championships, individual national event victories, countless memorable performances at dual meets, conference championships and state championships.
There is so much more information and stories to be shared from past team trips, team get-togethers, and rewriting the record books.
